Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt? What should I wear? Do I need a mask? How long does it take? Everything you need to know when coming to the salon.
Q: How hot are the stones in a hot stone massage?
A: The stones are between 40 and 50 degrees centigrade. Your body temperature is 37 degrees, and a shower would be considered hot at body temperature, so the stones will feel warm on the skin.
Q: What is a half body tan?
A: Your choice. Upper body or lower body. The upper body tan will be everything from the waist up, and the lower half body will be everything from the waist down.
Q: Can I use my gift voucher online?
A: Yes. Vouchers are redeemable in the salon and online. If you do not use the full value of the voucher for your treatments or products, we will give you a new voucher with the balance amount.
Q: I have eczema/ psoriasis. Can I still have treatment?
A: Yes. We can do patch tests prior to any treatments, but most skin treatments nourish and hydrate the skin so are actually good for your skin condition.
Q: Can I combine treatments?
A: Absolutely! And we encourage it. Our very popular spa delights give you a taster of several treatments. We will always advise which treatments can and can’t be combined.
Q: What should I wear?
A: For body treatments such as tanning and massage, you will remove your clothing, although you can keep your underwear on, so it doesn’t matter what you wear. We do recommend you wear dark clothing for body wraps and tanning treatments as there may be product residue still after the treatment. For face and beauty treatments we will provide you with a gown to protect your clothing from products, but it’s a good idea not to wear high necks or other clothing that covers the face.
Q: How long does it take to dry?
A: The DHA in the tan can take 4 -8 hours to be fully dry after your treatment. Wear loose dark clothing afterwards and it is best not to shower or apply lotions such as moisturiser during this time.
Q: How long will my tan last?
A: That depends on the shade. The darker the tan, the longer the effects will last, the darkest shades lasting up to 10 days. You can prolong the life of your tan by exfoliating 2 – 3 days before your treatment and avoiding tight clothes for the 24 hours after your treatment. Try and avoid showering for the next 6 hours too if you can.
Q: What conditions can you treat with reflexology?
A: Reflexology does not cure conditions, but it can help ease pain or relieve stress. Typical benefits include reduction in stress, anxiety, pain and fatigue. It can also help relieve symptoms such as sensitive or painful skin or chronic aches and pains.
Q: Does reflexology hurt?
A: Sometimes, yes. This is because the foot has thousands of nerve endings, each corresponding to a different part of the body. Applying pressure to the relevant part of the foot will relieve the pain on the specific part of the body, but the pain will manifest in the foot instead.
Q: Do I have to undress for a massage?
A: It is entirely up to you. We will always protect your modesty with a towel, but if you feel more comfortable keeping your underwear on, then please do so.
Q: What should I wear for a body wrap?
A: Ideally you should wear a bikini or be stripped down to your underwear. It’s a good idea to bring spare underwear as the solution can get onto your clothing.
Q: Will I lose weight with my body wrap?
A: Body wraps are designed to help you lose inches rather than pounds. The wraps draw out water and toxins from the body giving your skin a firmer, tauter look and reducing cellulite. Fat cells are also broken down during the treatment, so you may lose some weight.
Q: Can I eat or should I fast before my body wrap?
A: It doesn’t matter. Drinking is more important than eating, and you will get the best results if you are well hydrated before your wrap. The wrap draws out toxins, so plenty of water will help dilute aw these toxins.
Q: How long will my nails last?
A: Your nails are constantly growing so your nails will not last for ever. And your hands are in constant use – the more you use your hands, the more likely you are to damage your nails. Looking after your hands will protect the polish, and normally you can expect the polish to remain strong and chip free for 7 to 10 days. Gelish and Shellac nails can last longer, anything up to 3 weeks if cared for correctly.
Q: How long do my lashes last?
A: An LVL treatment will typically last up to 6 weeks, whereas tints, trims and shaping will last around 4.
Q: Can I still get my treatment if I have a bad patch test?
A: No, sorry. We specifically test for adverse reactions to the bonding solution and if you are allergic then we cannot carry out the LVL treatment. But don’t worry, there are plenty of other lash and brow treatments available.
Q: What is a patch test?
A: We always do a patch test if it is your first time having LVL treatment at the salon. It is important to check that you’re not allergic to the bonding formula in the treatment, and we do this by applying a small amount of the formula to an inconspicuous area, typically the crook of the elbow or behind the ear. It only takes a few minutes but it needs to be done at least 48 hours before the treatment to allow the results to show.
Q: Does the hopi ear candle treatment hurt?
A: No. The flame and cone create a suction that draws out the impurities – mainly ear wax – from the ear. You may hear a crackling sound, but this is just the candle burning.
Q: Is threading permanent?
A: No. The results will last approximately 4-6 week.s
